About Duct-Pro
Started in 2017, Certified Right Away
Elon started Duct-Pro in 2017 after more than fifteen years working in the trade, and the first thing he did was go get certified. Not because a certification wins jobs, but because he wanted the company held to a standard from day one. Duct-Pro is NADCA certified, the national body that publishes the ACR Standard the industry cleans to, and QUADCA certified alongside it. Every piece of equipment on the trucks is NADCA certified as well. That is a slightly unusual way to start a small service company. Most start by buying a van and taking calls. It tells you something about how this one has been run ever since.
Why We Went and Got an HVAC License
Elon had been working for a company that only did duct cleaning, and it did not add up for him. Customers called with a problem, the crew cleaned the ducts, and often the problem was still there afterward, because the problem was never the ducts. In his words, to solve the problem you need to do everything, you cannot just do duct cleaning. Nevada’s C-21B refrigeration and air conditioning contractor license requires four years of qualifying experience. So he went and worked for an HVAC company while simultaneously running Duct-Pro, for as long as it took to log the hours. That is not a shortcut anybody takes for marketing purposes. He did it because he was tired of finding problems he was not licensed to fix. It is also the reason the whole company is organized the way it is. Duct-Pro does not sell a cleaning package, it sells a diagnosis and a fix. As Elon puts it, we do not just do duct cleaning and go, we are coming to the house to figure out what the issue is and fix it. Nobody calls a duct company for entertainment. They call because the house is dusty, because one room never gets cold, because the dryer takes three cycles, or because something smells wrong. Our job is to work out which of those it actually is. Sometimes the answer is a cleaning. Frequently it is a torn duct, a fouled coil, or a system that was never balanced, and telling a customer that costs us the easy sale and earns the real one.
Why Every Job Ends With Photos and Video
There is a structural problem with air duct cleaning as a business, and Elon names it plainly. A crew can show up, run a vacuum for twenty minutes, pack up and leave, and the homeowner has no way to know whether anything actually happened. The ductwork is inside the walls and the ceiling. You cannot check. A commercial customer of ours learned that the expensive way. A restoration company had used a different duct cleaning company for years and paid them well, and never once received photos of the work. The first time somebody actually inspected the ductwork, they found essentially nothing had been done. Years of invoices, no result. They hired Duct-Pro, paid roughly double, and got the problem solved. That job became company policy. Every Duct-Pro customer gets before and after photos and video of their own system, without asking and without an upcharge, and we carry a video inspection camera that can be pushed into any duct in the house. We also do not subcontract, so the crew at your house is our crew, trained the same way and carrying $5 million in umbrella coverage, whether the job is a home in Summerlin or a casino kitchen on the Strip.
It is also why our prices are published on the site instead of held back until a technician is standing in your hallway. They are all on our pricing page.
